Sonic the Hedgehog Deluxe “Encyclo-speed-ia” coming this November
Last September, SEGA and the Sonic the Hedgehog brand rolled out the red carpet for Sonic’s 30th anniversary. They announced a cornucopia of merchandise, including books, jewelry, toys, and more.
For the encyclopedia, SEGA partnered with Dark Horse Comics to create “hardcover historical retrospective encyclopedia that explores nearly every video game and provides deep insights into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.” Today, we’ve got some more exciting details on that front.
In addition to the standard edition (pictured above), a deluxe edition of the encyclopedia is on the way. For $79.99, the deluxe edition includes:
• An exclusive mosaic cover
• A slipcase featuring gold foil “Ring” treatment
• A folio housing two archival gallery prints of Sonic and Dr. Eggman
The book is written by Ian Flynn. Flynn worked on Sonic the Hedgehog for Archie Comics and currently writes for IDW Publishing, where he continues the series. The standard edition of the book will run you $42.99, while getting the deluxe edition will cost you $79.99. Here’s their official preview:
