Just like me, Sonic the Hedgehog is hitting his 30s this year. The biggest difference between everyone’s favorite hog and myself is I don’t get a comic book to celebrate my birthday!
This week, io9 gave fans an exclusive first look at the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary comic book. The 80 page extravaganza features three different stories celebrating Sonic and his pals.
Alongside longtime Sonic writer Ian Flynn—and artists Mauro Fonseca, Reggie Graham, Aaron Hammerstrom, and Thomas Rothlisberger—the 30th Anniversary Special will include stories written by The Babysitter Club’s Gale Galligan, and by Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy, stars of The Adventure Zone actual-play podcast as well as My Brother, My Brother, and Me.

Fans are treated to a couple of variant covers, including a deluxe edition, which launches this fall.
The Anniversary comic’s three stories include a hunt for the Chaos Emeralds, dealing with Dr. Eggman’s birthday, and… Sonic driving a car???
You can get your hands on your own copy this June, with the $20 Deluxe Edition hitting shelves October 5th.
