It was just yesterday that we learned Beat from Jet Set Radio is joining the cast in the upcoming Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. We have to admit, that was totally awesome news that took us by surprise, and it doesn’t look like SEGA’s slowing down with the announcements as they celebrate Super Monkey Ball’s 20th anniversary.
Today, SEGA has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails will also be joining Beat as playable characters in the latest Super Monkey Ball entry. As with Beat, both Sonic and Tails will be “free and unlockable on all platforms through normal gameplay at launch.”
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is developed by Yakuza Studio and is an enhanced remaster of the first three Super Monkey Ball games in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
The game contains more than 300 stages from Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, and it features 12 minigames, including Monkey Racing, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Bowling and Monkey Baseball, to name a few. There are also online leaderboards and that takes players through Super Monkey Ball world with a comic book-style story telling in Story Mode.
We’re sure this isn’t the last surprise SEGA has up its sleeves leading up to Banana Mania’s release. What other SEGA characters would you like to see join the cast of the game?
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is scheduled for release on Oct 5 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox X|S. You can pre-order Super Monkey Ball Mania from Amazon.
