Sony closes loophole on stacking PlayStation Plus Premium

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about clever glitches fans were using to stack years of the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium. The move was to buy subscriptions to PlayStation Plus and Now to stack years of the impending service before they had to pay the new yearly price of $120. It seems that Sony has finally caught on to what people were doing.

Sony has seemingly closed the door on that exploit being used. According to reports, bought PlayStation Plus codes are being rejected after an attempted redemption. People have reported that Sony is telling customers, “On this case, you will be unable to add those codes to the account since we have disabled the option to redeem PS Plus codes.” Both ResetEra and IGN have confirmed those reports with people.

It’s not surprising to see, but it does stink Sony finally closed the door on the loophole. I personally used it to stack the upcoming PlayStation Plus Premium till 2024. It was a nice way to avoid an upcoming financial bomb of $120 we still aren’t sure will be worth it. But Sony needs to profit from the new service. Whether the gaming community likes it or not.

Sony will launch PlayStation Plus Premium this June for $120 a year. The service is said to include a library of downloadable titles from the PS1, PS2, PSP, PS4, and PS5 libraries. PS3 has been confirmed to be streaming only for now. What do you think of the move? Did you stack some years of the service before Sony closed the loophole door? Let us know in the comments below.
