Breaking down the new features of PlayStation VR2
One of the exciting upgrades coming to PlayStation VR2 is high-fidelity visuals. Players can experience games in 4K HD resolution with a 110-degree field-of-view and foveated rendering. In addition, the PS VR2 packs an OLED display that boasts a resolution of 2000×2040 per eye and frame rates of 90/120Hz.
In addition, PlayStation VR2 will also feature enhanced tracking. The headset-based controller tracking will allow for your movements and the direction you look at to be reflected in-game. This eliminates the need for an external camera. PS VR2 also features eye tracking. Now, the direction your eyes face directly reflect what you see in the game. The unprecedented level of realism promises for a more intuitive and lifelike gaming experience.
PS VR2 also boasts new sensory features. One feature is headset feedback. This amplifies sensations with vibrations that react to gameplay. The new headset also utilizes PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech. According to Nishino, this feature, “makes sounds in the player’s surroundings come alive.” The PS VR2 Sense controllers also add to gamers’ immersion with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Nishino closes the announcement with the reveal of Horizon Call of the Mountain. This new game by Guerilla and Firesprite is being developed specifically for PlayStation VR2. The game will show off the advanced capabilities for PlayStation’s newest gear.
