Soul Hackers 2 revealed with fall 2022 release date
In a war between devil summoners, it's up to Ringo and her team to decrypt destiny and save the world from apocalypse!
After Atlus’ mysterious countdown leading up to the reveal, they’ve finally announced the Soul Hackers revival. With an official announcement trailer and a following livestream to show off the game, Atlus revealed turn-based RPG Soul Hackers 2. The game comes to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC this upcoming fall.
What’s in store for Soul Hackers 2?
Soul Hackers 2, set in the 21st century, follows a war between the Yagaratsu and the Phantom Society, both Devil Summoner factions. Ringo is an “Aion” supernatural being born in the data stream, sent to avert the apocalypse. The game carries the same energetic style as the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei games. With an upbeat soundtrack, bright colors, and a unique style, the game certainly draws you in.
The trailer shows the protagonist, Ringo, waking up to a voice speaking to her. Ringo, like many others in the cast, is a Devil Summoner. If you’ve ever played the previous installments, you may know Devil Summoners, like their title, summon demons to help them fight in battle. The presentation livestream also revealed more about other characters, such as Figue, another Aion being, and Arrow.
Whether you’ve played the original Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers game or not, you can jump straight into the sequel. Featuring a whole new cast of characters and plot, this is the first time the series has returned in a long time. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, we’re getting a taste of Soul Hackers once again.
When does the game release?
Atlus already has a release date for the game: Soul Hackers 2 releases August 26, 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Japan receives a 25th anniversary Edition on PlayStation, including a Persona costume, a mini figure, a book, and a CD set. Unfortunately, those of us on the west won’t get such a treat. In the meantime, the original Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers can be played on the Nintendo 3DS as of its latest port if you want to try it out before the sequel arrives.
