SPOILERS the Hedgehog?! Pictures from Sonic 2 movie set leaked
Spoilers within, in case you didn't pick up on that from the headline.
When you’re filming on location, it can be difficult to keep certain aspects of your film a secret. Fortunately for Jeff Fowler and the folks at Paramount working on the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie in Fort Langley, BC, the biggest surprise to escape their set and explode across Twitter is also one of the most obvious.
Specifically, the appearance of another prominent character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:
Knuckles the Echidna!

Though the models appear incomplete compared to how we can likely expect them to look in the movie (not only is Knuckles missing his crest, but Tails is lacking his namesake), reception to our first look at the guardian of the Master Emerald(?) has overall been quite positive:

Knuckles isn’t the only big Sonic player spotted on set, however. Just days prior, folks noticed the insignia of a certain Guardian Unit of Nations plastered across numerous military vehicles. Hollywood North Buzz has the scoop:
While G.U.N. tended to use mechs more than tanks in the games, the helicopter in particular seems like it could lead to a direct callback to a popular moment:

G.U.N.’s presence does lend itself to a bigger question, as they’re best known for being tied to another fan-favorite Sonic character. Could we see Shadow show up in this film? Or is this just foreshadowing, as with the Knuckles Tribe showing up at the start of the first film? Maybe a bit of both, and he shows up during the stinger? Only time will tell.
