Steam Deck shipments to be doubled this week
The Steam Deck release came with quite a few bumps in the road. It initially hit a delay prior to release back in November because of supply chain issues. However, it finally launched in late February, and people have been receiving their shipments. Now, Valve announced they plan to get through those backlog orders much more quickly with double the number of Steam Decks shipping out.
Steam Deck shipments on the way
With those material shortages out of the way, Valve plans for their Steam Deck shipments production to ramp up. They released a statement on June 27, 2022 to let everyone know what to expect in the weeks to come:
“Some great news on the production front. We just sent the last batch of Q2 emails, and we’ll start sending Q3 reservation emails on the 30th. Production has picked up, and after today we’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week!”
Customers receive a 72-hour limit to purchase the Steam Deck after receiving the order email reservation. If you don’t grab it then, the reservation passes on to the next person.
How much is the console?
Base price for the Steam Deck starts at $399. Price increases with different storage options, with the 256GB NVMe SSD for $529 and the 512GB NVMe SSD for $649. Orders placed today won’t be shipping out until after October 22, 2022. If you’re interested in the handheld deck, you should hop on the reservations for Q3 before too many people get ahead!
