Steel Assault devs release teaser for gorgeous-looking new game

Some Assaults.

Zenovia Interactive’s Steel Assault took everyone by surprise when it hit Switch and PC in late 2021. Here was an indie game with a level of polish typically reserved for those with higher budgets; presenting as it did a stylish side-scroller drawing inspiration from such classics as Castlevania. It was tight, responsive and fast-paced as all geddout, not to mention rocking a wonderful retro aesthetic. Put simply, it was quite marvelous, which its 8s and 9s out of 10 across the board reflected. Now, the devs of this little gem have released a teaser for their next venture, and it too looks eye-poppingly sleek.

That pixel art. I am not worthy.

The game appears to have a decidedly Blade Runner aesthetic, with all the neon-lit streets and deep-hued colours that entails. Though the genre appears unclear at the mo, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume it’ll be similar to Steel Assault given that they struck gold with that one. The sound design is also supremely cool, and despite the fact we don’t have an actual title, there’s more than enough here to stoke some hype.

How about you? Will you be following along with the announcement cycle of Zenovia’s next project? Did you enjoy Steel Assault? Let us know!
