Tekken: Bloodline official trailer and key art drops

“Power is everything.”

Netflix teased us about the upcoming Tekken animation back in March. They’ve seen great success with other video game adaptations, including League of Legend’s Arcane, Castlevania, and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. Up next in their upcoming adaptations is Tekken: Bloodlines, with the official trailer finally being revealed!

Tekken: Bloodline trailer

Tekken: Bloodline plans to follow along the events of Tekken 3. Trained by his mother at an early age, Jin Kazama learned the way of Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts. Despite his training, he failed to stop a monstrous evil that destroyed his life and everything he loved. On a quest of revenge, Jin swore to become powerful enough to face it, leading up to The King of Iron First Tournament.

Tekken boasts a very, very big roster of characters. For the Netflix adaptation, they’ve chosen to focus on Jin Kazama. Jin Kazama first showed up in the game’s universe back in 1997 with the release of Tekken 3. Ever since, he’s been one of the main characters.

Its animation style stands out in an interesting way. Combining 3D models with 2D graphics, it’s very slick and sharp. Throughout the trailer, we even get a glimpse at some familiar combos in the game.

Though we have no official names behind the voices of the English dub, here’s the list of the Japanese voice cast:

  • Jin Kazama – Isshin Chiba
  • Jun Kazama – Mamiko Noto
  • Heihachi Mishima – Taiten Kusunoki
  • Kazuya Mishima – Masanori Shinohara
  • Hwoarang – Toshiyuki Morikawa
  • Ling Xiaoyu – Maaya Sakamoto
  • Paul Phoenix – Hōchū Ōtsuka
  • Julia Chang – Seiko Yoshida
  • Nina Williams – Yumi Tōma
  • Ganryu – Hidenari Ugaki

When does the show release?

Tekken: Bloodline drops August 18, 2022. Having watched many of the video game adaptations on Netflix, a lot of them were absolutely worth the watch. We can only hope this franchise will receive the same treatment. Even if Tekken 3 or Jin Kazama aren’t your favorites of the series, if Tekken: Bloodline is well-received, there’s always the chance they’ll adapt more storylines from the franchise.

Are you looking forward to the adaptation? Let us know what you think!
