The King of Fighters ’98 has a major Steam update coming this winter
The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition announced a big Steam update for this winter. The patch will be adding online features the community has been waiting on!
During IgroMir, Russia’s largest gaming expos, legendary fighting game developer SNK revealed that King of Fighters ’98 is getting better soon. The developer wants to focus on online matches to create more precise and delay-free battles to avoid latency issues. The original, delay-based net code is the culprit for these problems and will be switched to fan-acclaimed net code by Code Mystics.
The King of Fighters ’98 will also receive online lobbies, which is more than just 1v1 matches. Players can host or join large rooms with several players for massive battles. This could possibly create fan-focused tourneys for those who can’t travel. But fighting is half the game; players are open to just being there to learn or cheer on their friends or rivals via spectator mode.
Before the update goes live, a Community Beta Test will happen, which allows SNK to collect feedback from November 30th to December 4th. Interested players are encouraged to check out the CBT to experience the new features.
