There was a Nintendo Switch sale for a couple of hours
If you know Nintendo, you know they never mark down their prices. Whether it’s consoles or games, it’s rare to see anything first-party-wise go on sale from the company. So a “blink and you miss it” price markdown got some attention this week. Especially because it was for the Nintendo Switch.
In a shock to the gaming community, the Nintendo Switch was listed at retailers for $259.99 on May 11th. Down from its usual $299.99. That $40 price drop must have been enough to warrant the gaming community’s attention. Because Nintendo reverted the price back to $300 hours later.
So why do this even for the Nintendo Switch? Why mark it down for just a couple hours? I do have a theory. E3 was set to take place in June before it was canceled. However, companies are still holding digital events in the same week. I’m sure Nintendo will as well.
And with all these events comes the companies doing massive sales. Does this price cut imply a price drop for the Nintendo Switch in June? It’s not crazy to think about! If Nintendo has a lot of exclusives to announce, wouldn’t it be smart to do a console markdown to ride off the hype? I wouldn’t be surprised if the $259.99 price returns this year.
The Nintendo Switch is (mostly) available now at your local retailers. Do you think a price drop is imminent for the console? Could it happen in June around the industry’s digital events? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
