Total War: Warhammer II High Elves vs. Dark Elves in two new trailers
See the dark and light sides of Elves in these two Total War: Warhammer II faction trailers
SEGA has released not one, not three, but two new trailers for Total War: Warhammer II, one showcasing the noble High Elves in action and the other looking into the nefarious Dark Elves. With the addition of these two new trailers, SEGA has revealed three out of the four playable races in the game.
The Dark Elf trailer, above, is said to be using the in-game engine – it means you may not necessarily see this footage in game, but the visuals and animations are all representative of what to expect in the final game, which makes it that little bit more special to me.
The High Elf trailer (below) is still pretty impressive though, it’s said to be a custom battle recorded using an early work-in-progress version of the game. Which means that certain things are subject to change.
Anyway, enjoy the videos and here is some reading material for you: SEGA’s PR blasts on both videos.

With murderous prowess, the Dark Elves march forth in WARHAMMER II’s latest cinematic trailer
Even the noblest warrior casts a dark shadow, and so it is with the race of Elves. The High Elves may be paragons of virtue, but their closest kin represent all that is foul and depraved in the Elven soul.
Led from the obsidian wastes of Naggaroth by the Witch King Malekith and his sadistic mother Morathi, the Dark Elves are hell-bent on the humiliation and destruction of their orderly brothers, and ultimate control of the Great Vortex in Ulthuan.
The third of Total War: WARHAMMER II’s four playable races to be revealed so far, the Dark Elves offer a ferocious new gameplay style. Swift to strike – and brutal to a fault – they’re capable of tearing down an enemy’s defences in a trice, provided they sustain their Murderous Prowess. However, a Dark Elf leader must preserve his alpha status in the eyes of his lesser generals and keep an iron grip on their loyalty, lest their self-serving, glory-seeking nature leads to treachery!

New High Elf units wreak havoc in latest Total War: WARHAMMER II gameplay video
The High Elves play a defensive game like no other race in the Warhammer world. Staggering their enemy with masterful archery on approach, tar-pitting them into a punishing melee, then counterattacking with elemental flying monsters, this ancient highborn race is a force to be reckoned with. See them in action right here:
This new gameplay video from Creative Assembly shows the High Elves in the player’s hands, defending against a bellowing host of Lizardmen warriors led by Mazdamundi himself, and reveals spectacular new units in action. Look out for:
• The noble Pheonix and its Frostheart variant: fire and ice working in perfect tandem to decimate enemy forces
• The Dragon Princes of Caledor: top-tier shock cavalry clad in dragon armour, making them immune to fire
• The immensely-armoured Pheonix Guard: standing ready to strike down the largest beasts that the Lizardmen have to offer.
Total War: Warhammer II launches on September 28th 2017 and is available for preorder now on Steam.
