Unannounced Atlus game ‘Project Pen’ receives rating in Australia
The mysterious project received an MA 15+ rating from the Australian Classification Board.
The Australian Classification Board recently rated an as-of-yet unannounced game from Atlus titled Project Pen. The title, which neither Atlus nor SEGA has officially confirmed the existence of, received an MA 15+ rating from the board on Nov. 4.
The board gave Project Pen a MA 15+ rating for “strong violence and sexualized imagery” and “in-game purchases.” According to the board’s content scale, adult themes and language will also be present. Even without any information about the game’s content, this rating is all we need to know that this will be an adult-focused title.
We can’t infer purely from this rating what the game will look like, nor can we determine if it’s connected to any long-running Atlus series. It seems we’ll just have to wait for more information from Atlus or SEGA themselves.
What we know about Atlus and Project Pen so far
All the details we have on this mysterious title come from the Australian Classification Board’s rating. It’s obvious from the content descriptors that the game will have mature themes throughout, and we also know the title will have in-game purchases.
Other information included in the classification tells us that Project Pen will be a multi-platform release from Atlus; however, the consoles it’s in development for haven’t been revealed yet. Official languages include English and Japanese, indicating a worldwide release (or at least, to Japan and North America). Beyond that, we can only speculate.
Atlus recently released the long-awaited fifth entry in its popular Shin Megami Tensei series. We know that among other projects, the company is working on a title called Project Re Fantasy; little information has come of this game since its announcement in 2017. Whether or not this rating relates to that project is unknown.
