Valve has completed the Steam Deck packaging for its February release

Some weeks ago, Valve announced that the Steam Deck would get pushed back from its December release to February due to supply chain issues. However, that didn’t stop Valve from updating the portable system and sharing details, which remains a focus now that they’ve shown pictures of the current final packaging for the Steam Deck.

Recently, Valve completed the DV (Design Validation) manufacturing build of the Steam Deck and revealed they’ll be using them for additional testing and development kits. By DV, it’s usually referred to as the final prototype build before production begins. It’ll include all the improvements from the late EV2 prototype. But there are still minor tidbits that’ll change before the product ships, so don’t take everything announced as final yet.

Steam Deck’s Packaging Opened

Unlike the past EV2 builds, they are now testing the final packaging design for the current units. Before developers can get their hands on them, though, Valve wanted to “give you a sneak peek of the final packaging that customers will see in February.”

Upon opening, you’ll see all of the supported languages on the ceiling of the packaging. The charging and power guide will be at the bottom to kickstart the device.

Steam Deck & Power Supply

Underneath are the goodies: one Steam Deck and one power supply, which Valve reminds customers in their post that they’ll receive the appropriate power supply based on their region. The Steam Deck will be inside a 64GB or 256GB carry-case – depending on which version customers’ purchased.

Setbacks aside, it’s great to see Valve communicating with their customers by sharing what will be in their hands soon. What do you think? Let us know below!
