Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden launches this month!
If you love tabletop RPGs, you'll also love Voice of Cards!
Earlier today, Square Enix made a surprise announcement when they revealed that Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden will launch this month.
The new standalone turn-based RPG is the third game in the Voice of Cards series. As the name suggests, the unique adventure features a story told entirely through the use of cards. The game comes to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 13.
What is Voice of Cards?
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Voice of Cards is a series of role-playing games by Square Enix modeled to replicate a tabletop RPG using the medium of cards. Building off the tabletop aesthetic, the games also feature a Game Master. This narrator guides you through the story with the occasional witty criticism. In addition, the team behind the games’ development includes a celebrated lineup of people who worked on the Drakengard and NieR series.
Fortunately for brand new players, the new Voice of Cards game is a completely standalone entry. Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden puts players in a conflict-ridden world between humans and monsters. As the young girl Al’e, your quiet village life becomes one of adventure after monsters attack the city wall. However, after a mysterious boy saves Al’e, she begins her quest into an unknown world to seek revenge.
