Volgarr the Viking ported to Dreamcast

It’s pretty crazy to think that the Dreamcast never got a traditional 2D hack and slash platformer during its short, but badass lifetime. But that has changed thanks to Marc Hall, who has released a Dreamcast port of Crazy Viking Studio’s Volgarr the Viking!

The port isn’t official, but the guys at Crazy Viking expressed their desire to do so in the past and seemed to be pretty impressed with Hall’s work when I saw the video of the game running on Dreamcast hardware more than two years ago.

If you want to download the game (and why wouldn’t you?!), go here and read the instructions to burn the ISO to a CD-R.

Volgarr was successfully Kickstarted  and certain tiers offered a Genesis-style box, a printed instruction manual and Genesis cart containing a USB drive with the game installed. Since then, it’s been ported to several other systems, like the Xbox One.

If you want to learn more about Volgarr, check out our interview with Kris and Taron from Crazy Viking in the SEGA Nerdcast: Episode 6. There’s lots of interesting info cram packed in the interview, so be sure to give it a listen!
