Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car finally coming to MAME

If you’ve been waiting around the house the past several decades asking yourself, “Gee, when is Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car going to be released on MAME?” I have some good news for you. It’s finally coming!

Someone tracked down a working cabinet and imported it from Japan, where they dumped the game, and it will be available to play in the next MAME release.

The Japanese-exclusive arcade game was originally released in 1991 and features Sonic taking up the job of a police officer, where he patrols the streets looking to stop any nefarious doings of Dr. Eggman. Surprisingly enough, there was an English variant, but it wasn’t released outside Japan.

This release marks the first time SEGA fans outside of Japan will have the ability to play the game, which is great news!
