Watch the trailer for this awesome Resident Evil 2 mod for Dreamcast!

Relive the horror... with a twist!

The Resident Evil modding community is stronger than ever. From the Resident Evil REvisited mod coming to RE2 on PC to the VR mods for the remakes of RE2 & 3, there’s a lot to be excited for. Now, another huge mod is on its way to Resident Evil 2, only this time for SEGA Dreamcast!

Modder mrgreenranger shared the teaser trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil 2: Special Edition to YouTube in December. The mod expands on the base game with content originally cut from Resident Evil 1.5. In addition, it adds Ark Thompson from Resident Evil: Survivor. The best part is that aside from running on the MakaronEX Dreamcast emulator, players can also experience the mod on the actual SEGA Dreamcast.

Resident Evil 2: Special Edition

With the help of other modders credited in the trailer, mrgreenranger created a mod that adds a back dash ability, additional playable characters and new NPCs to interact with. In addition, mrgreenranger discusses how RE2: Special Edition will create brand new challenges for players to encounter.

Relive the horror- this time facing against new adversaries and encountering new obstacles. Leon, Claire, Sherry and Ada will have to work even harder to survive the terrors of Racoon City.

Previously, mrgreenranger also worked on a variety of other mods for the Dreamcast version of RE2. Each of the mods offer additional elements that make revisiting the game on Dreamcast fresh and exciting. Notable examples include the new scenario of Leon meeting Chief Irons and a speech mod that alters the game’s dialogue. All of these and more can be found on mrgreenranger’s YouTube channel.

While there is no official release date, mrgreenranger states that the mod is coming soon. Are you excited to revisit Resident Evil 2 for SEGA Dreamcast with the Special Edition? Let us know what you think below!
