Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World to have three limited editions

Fans of the Westone Bit’s Wonder Boy/Monster Boy series have seen the series get quite the resurgence in recent years, thanks to developers Game Atelier and Lizardcube, who released fantastic new entries in Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, respectively.

It wasn’t too long ago that it was announced that Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World — a remaster of Wonder Boy IV — was in development by STUDIOARTDINK and ININ Games. The game is set to release in 2021 and includes the series’ creator Ryuichi Nishizawa leading development, as well as several other members of his original development team returning to join the project.

Now, Publisher ININ Games has announced that pre-orders for the Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World limited editions on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will soon begin via the Strictly Limited Games Partner Store.

The Limited Edition is available for about €39.99 (about $50), limited to 3,500 copies for Nintendo Switch and 1,700 copies for PlayStation 4 worldwide and features:

• Monster World IV original game (PS4/NSW)
• Manual (Mega Drive Style)
• Reversible variant cover
• Individually numbered

The Collector’s Edition is available for €99.99 (about $124), limited to 2,500 copies for Nintendo Switch and 1,200 copies for PlayStation 4 worldwide and includes:

• Manual (Mega Drive Style)
• Collector’s edition box

The Mega Collector’s Edition is available for €179.99 (about $220), limited to 999 copies for Nintendo Switch and 499 copies for PlayStation 4 worldwide. This edition celebrates the origins of the game and features everything from the Collector’s Edition plus:

• Mega Drive/Genesis-style plastic case with reversible inlay

Asha in Monster World stars our green-haired heroine Asha, along with her blue flying friend Pepelogoo, who’s chosen to rescue missing spirits and save the world. While the story stays true to the origins, the game does feature some new updates, like:

• New dynamic cutscenes and animations
