[Update 1] Yakuza 5 should release in mid-November, according to SEGA

[Update: It appears that SEGA has removed text from today’s Yakuza 5 blog post that read that the game would be released in mid-November. It might be because the “mid-November” release window has slipped further or it wasn’t all that official to begin with, and SEGA’s community team jumped the gun. We’ll hit SEGA up to try to get more info.]

Yakuza 5 should release sometime next month, according to a recent post on the SEGA blog.

Even though the game’s digital pre-order has listed the game’s release date as Dec. 31, SEGA’s plans were to release it in mid-November. However, some localizing issues put that release time frame in jeopardy.

“Unfortunately, it’s a little later than we would’ve liked, and a few weird development bugs that popped up in localization caused the delay,” the post read. “Without getting too technical, there were just certain parts that didn’t like switching the Japanese text out for English, and we had to actually search through the source code to find a fix, taking more time than we expected.”

However, the post goes on to read that the localization is now back on track, but they still can’t confirm a solid date as of yet.

While Yakuza 5 isn’t technically delayed since SEGA never announced an official release date, it is the latest game to have met development issues. More recently, Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice and Persona 5 were both delayed from releasing in late 2015 to sometime next year.
