Yakuza will be called Like A Dragon from here on out.
There is an inexcusable amount of gaming series that are categorized and named terribly throughout the years title-wise. How many reboots of series have the same title as the original? It’s confusing and exhausting to figure out what game goes where chronologically! Thankfully, SEGA is taking an intelligent approach with the Yakuza series. Or should I say, Like A Dragon!
SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku have confirmed that the Yakuza series going forward will instead be titled Like A Dragon. This will start with the upcoming remake of Ishin and the spin-off The Man Who Erased His Name.
So you’re probably wondering why they changed after six games? According to SEGA Japan, it will “more closely align with the Japanese name.” Now some context. Ryu Ga Gotoku, which the series is called over in Japan, means Like A Dragon.
So, I guess that does check out to be concise worldwide. Surprised it took this long now, knowing that is the case? But it’s nice to see a series make it effortless to tell what game goes where now chronologically!
There are three Like A Dragon games in the pipeline for fans. Along with the two mentioned above, the eighth installment in the franchise is also on the way! What do you think about the name change? Will it be hard to switch your brain to remember? Let us know in the comments below!
