You can play a SEGA Master System in Lost Judgment

The Judgment franchise has seen a steady increase in popularity in tandem with RGG Studios’ Yakuza series. Not too long ago, we officially reported on Judgment officially selling 1 million copies worldwide since launch. That’s pretty impressive, don’t you think? The thirst for a sequel was real, and in May, SEGA granted our wishes.

In May, SEGA teased a mysterious new game with an ominous countdown timer, which revealed Lost Judgment. As we previously reported, Lost Judgment picks up where the first game left off. In the sequel, players will solve crimes in a high school setting. A couple of weeks back, series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and Takuya Kimura conducted a video interview where they delved deeper into the game.

We got some brand new footage of Yagami’s office, and some of you folks may wonder where his pinball machine went. Well ladies and gents, RGG Studios replaced it with a SEGA Master System. There’s actually a couple of games you can take on when you boot up the console, including Doki Doki Penguin Land and Alex Kidd in Miracle World. You can unlock more of these games as you progress through the story.

Playing a SEGA game within a SEGA game is a common staple in Yakuza and Judgment. The first Judgment game featured Puyo Puyo and Fantasy Zone, while Yakuza included Virtua Fighter and Out Run. I’m super curious to see what other games Yagami can play as the story progresses.

You won’t have to wait too long to find out, though. Lost Judgment is set to release worldwide simultaneously on September 24th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox.
